Toes to the Nose

This was a very exciting weekend in the Curling household!  Josh had a 4 day weekend and after we went to our church's Fall Festival on Saturday we headed down to our favorite place, Rodanthe.  On Sunday Tropical Storm/ Hurricane Igor (whatever he is now) was showing his ugly face because it was so windy and the waves were HUGE = no beach day for us.  So on Monday we drove to Oregon Inlet and parked the truck in our own little secret spot.  This is when Josh decided that it was the perfect time to for Ella to have her FIRST SURF SESSION (If you know Josh, then you know that surfing is his first love)!  She had a blast and I thought Josh was about to cry, haha!

Perfect Ending to the Perfect Weekend <3

Photo session...

Once again I am slacking on my blog...
Anyways...
Last week my mom and I finally took Ella to get her 12 month pictures taken, but not before we had a little photo session of our own.  When I found out that I was going to have a little girl my mom took my wedding gown and had a dress and blanket made from the train.  Here are a few from snapshots from the day... (bare with me as I learn how to edit my photos)

She was the perfect model and even did a great job for her 12 month pictures... who knows, maybe I will post them within the next month...haha!

Let me catch you up...

I think a whole week has gone by since my last post, so let me catch you up!
~We planned to spend our Labor Day weekend down at Rodanthe, but Hurricane Earl had other plans for the Outer Banks... Josh got a call on Friday that the roof to the cottage had blown off... yes, blown off...
So on Saturday he went down with his father to repair it... and he was even able to squeeze in a surf session.

~Meanwhile Ella and I went to a family cook out at my Memore's (what I call my grandmother) because my cousin, Noel, was home for the weekend.  He joined the Navy and has been in school since January.  Of course Ella only cared about the dog :)

~Sunday after church and a good nap (well at least for Josh and Ella) we went to First Landing Beach.

~It was a beautiful Monday, so we went to the Norfolk Zoo... and I guess everyone else had the same idea because it was soooo crowded.  However, we still had a great time and Ella loved feeding the ducks her goldfish, visiting the giraffes and monkeys, and cooling off in the water  :)

~ and finally this morning, Ella had her 12 month check-up...... any moms out there know how "fun" these are.  The older she gets, the more I dread taking her to the doctor.  I feel so bad when she walks in with a big smile on her face and then... BAM!... that smile turns into screaming and big alligator tears.  The poor thing had to get not one, or two, but FIVE shots today!  So needless to say the car ride home was not fun.  Well I better go do something productive while she takes her afternoon nap.

~Have a great Tuesday!

You Are The Apple Of My Eye...

This morning Ella and I went apple picking with my mother-in-law at Martin's Orchard and Vineyard in Knotts Island.  We went last year around the same time when Ella was just a few weeks old. (see picture below)

I think that she had more fun this time!

Don't they look red delicious?  Now off to make applesauce and my hubby's favorite... baked apples with cinnamon and sugar!
