a change for a New Year

For Christmas my lovely mother bought me a slipper chair.  I fell in love with these chairs from Target and after she purchased TWO i began to secretly plot how to steal borrow one of hers :)  My condo is very narrow (as you saw hereand there are not many ways to rearrange so I was a little worried about adding another piece of furniture to the already cramped space.  So after taking down allllll the Christmas decorations and tree (yes, I am one of those people who put their decorations up before Thanksgiving and take them down the day after Christmas, I get it from my mama)  I came up with this...

(pssst...There is an extra bonus if you can spot Milo)

I really wish I would have taken a picture of my house after the madness of Christmas day so that you would fully appreciate this haha!

It's Christmas Time at The Curling Corner

I think the last time I posted a blog I was wearing short sleeves and now I am bundled up in a warm robe and flannel pants because it is a coooold 32' now!  Winter time is definitely here!
Anywho...
We have been busy trying to create some fun family traditions with Ella.  Last week we took her to Christmas Town at Busch Gardens and unfortunately she was not a fan... in her defense, it was freeeeezing outside and she had to ride in her stroller the whole time (she seems to think it is a torture device).  We did manage to take a few pics that made it look like we had a great time.

The next day we bought our Christmas tree...

And finally I decided it would be fun to take Ella to see the Christmas lights on the boardwalk at Va Beach.  The first 5 minutes (Josh swears it wasn't even that long) she loved it!!

but then something snapped in her and she decided that is wasn't fun anymore and had a complete MELTDOWN little cry.  So after trying to console her she got loaded back into her carseat and we had to drive 10 mph on the boardwalk for 25 more minutes with a screaming and tired toddler in the backseat.

I thought Josh was going to drive off the boardwalk and go off road on the beach to get us out of there, but he composed himself well...haha!  Oh well, can't blame a Mom for trying.  Now, the question is, dare we try pictures with Santa???

I'll think of a clever title later...

Hello friends!  Sorry I have been missing in action, but it has been an eventful few weeks.
So here we go........

~1~  Two weeks ago Josh took me to New York for our 3rd wedding anniversary.  We were total tourist and had a great time!

-Museum of Natural History-

-Time Square jumbo screen... we are at the bottom about to kiss-

-Minskoff Theater for The Lion King-

-I even made it to The Today Show!!!!  Ignore the tiiiiired eyes, it was early!!-

~2~  After our New York weekend we loaded back up and went to the mountains with Josh's family.  Ella and I went a couple of days early because Josh had to work.  Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short because Ella and I had a nasty stomach bug.

~3~  and finally the BIG, BIG news... earlier this month I found out that we are going to have another baby, due July 1 !!!!!!
God continues to bless us!

Have a great Monday :)

Halloween and Hikes

This Halloween I made Ella's costume. I decided that she would be the cutest dog.  Dog was her first word and every animal is a "dog"!  So I went to the fabric store and bought a yard of tan fleece material that ended up being on sale for only $3 and then I found some brown fleece in the scrap basket for only $1.  I think it turned out pretty good for 4 bucks!  We started the night off a Josh's aunt's house with dinner and pictures and then we went to our church for Trunk or Treat.  It didn't take Ella long to figure out that if you walk up to a car and look cute then you get a piece of candy :)  Here are a few pictures...

(her first house)

( Ashley and Dylan the bee, she made his cute little costume too)

(at this point she is now running to the next stop)

(candy + happy toddler = success)

..............................................................................................

Josh had off on Monday and it was the perfect Fall day so we decided to go for a little hike.

(I guess the scenery was not exciting)

Confession

"Hello, my name is Devyn and I am re-do-aholic."

I am always moving a vase here, adding a pillow there, and thinking of home improvements for Josh to do :)  In a recent post I gave you a tour inside Casa De Curling, but here are a few little updates we have done...

(downstairs half-bath before)

(after 1)

(after 2)

(new pendant lighting above the kitchen sink)

(new carpet downstairs)

I am so excited to take down the fall decor and decorate for Christmas this week!!!  I know its way too early for some of you but I am my mother's daughter and the day after Halloween is the best time to put up Christmas :)
